Brussels, 5th February 2024 - Engineer Flavia Royon, Argentina's Secretary of Mining, along with the Governors of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil, of Jujuy, Carlos Sadir, of Salta, Gustavo Sáenz, and of San Juan, Marcelo Orrego, visited Brussels (the capital of the European Union), as part of a trip to this continent. Their aim was to promote new investments in projects related to lithium, copper, and renewable energies and to deepen the strategic partnership with Europe.
With the support of the Argentine Embassy to the European Union to foster Argentina's international integration, the organized activities included meetings and project presentations to European officials who are decision-makers in relations with Latin America, as well as representatives of companies, sectoral chambers, and financing entities, such as the European Investment Bank (EIB).
With a federal approach and a future-oriented vision, this visit symbolizes the joint effort to boost collaboration in strategic sectors, thereby consolidating Argentina's presence and impact on the European scene.
In this context, a Roadmap was agreed upon, which will define the next concrete steps to implement the bilateral cooperation agreement on critical raw materials, signed on June 13, 2023, in Buenos Aires.
This Agreement aims to identify and jointly develop innovative and sustainable local projects to develop the entire value chain of critical raw materials such as lithium and copper, from exploration, extraction, refining, transformation to recycling, with European financial support.
To conclude the visit, the Argentine Embassy to the EU organized an event with numerous European political and business representatives, allowing the delegation to maintain bilateral contacts. These discussions enable direct conversations to identify synergies and concrete business and investment opportunities.
