Brussels, 30th August 2023 - Officials from the Argentine Embassy to the European Union held a productive meeting with Mercedes Alonso Segoviano, a technical expert from the COPOLAD Program.
COPOLAD is a cooperation program funded by the European Union with a budget of 15 million euros and an initial execution period of 4 years starting from February 2021. The program supports countries in Latin America and the Caribbean in improving their drug policies. The objective is to aid in achieving better outcomes in terms of promoting and defending human rights, gender equality, public health, citizen security, and other dimensions of sustainable development. These aspects are crucial and urgent in addressing the challenges generated by the health, economic, and social crisis caused by COVID-19 in the region.
The meeting, of significant strategic importance, aimed to strengthen cooperation between Argentina and the COPOLAD Program and exchange experiences regarding Argentina's participation in working groups. Furthermore, joint opportunities that could be leveraged in the future were assessed.

COPOLAD III combines bi-regional and multi-country collaboration spaces with direct technical assistance interventions to address national-level needs and drive transformative and innovative interventions, mobilizing European and Latin American and Caribbean public expertise in schemes of bilateral, triangular, and South-South cooperation.
