Brussels, 22nd June 2023 - With the aim of strengthening diplomatic ties with Argentina's strategic partners and enhancing relations with the European Union, Ambassador Berardi held a series of meetings with the Ambassadors of the Mercosur member countries in Brussels.
During his initial working encounters, Ambassador Berardi was received by the Uruguayan Ambassador, Pablo Sader, in a protocol visit to discuss the agenda of relations with the European Union. On this occasion, various topics of mutual interest were discussed, and new opportunities for bilateral collaboration were explored to be promoted from their respective Embassies. Both Ambassadors highlighted the importance of strengthening the bonds between Argentina and Uruguay to foster economic growth and regional development.
Subsequently, Ambassador Berardi met with Ambassador Rigoberto Gauto, Head of the Paraguayan Mission to the EU. The meeting focused on preparing high-level meetings that will take place during the month of July. Both Ambassadors exchanged perspectives and agreed to work closely together to promote Mercosur's shared interests with the European Union.
Additionally, Ambassador Berardi had an introductory meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, Pedro Miguel da Costa e Silva. During this encounter, the Ambassadors emphasized the strategic nature of the bilateral relationship and commemorated the 200 years of diplomatic relations. They also agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation between both Missions in preparation for the upcoming high-level meetings with the EU. Areas of mutual interest were explored, and the significance of maintaining constant and constructive dialogue to promote the common objectives of Mercosur and the European Union was highlighted.
Ambassador Berardi expressed his satisfaction with the productive meetings held with the Mercosur Ambassadors in Brussels. He emphasized the importance of maintaining solid coordination and collaboration among Mercosur member countries to strengthen their position in relations with the European Union. The Ambassador reaffirmed Argentina's commitment to promoting regional dialogue and cooperation, as well as the pursuit of joint opportunities that benefit all involved countries.
