Argentina and the European Union resumed the Macroeconomic Dialogue with the aim of promoting mutual cooperation

In order to move forward in a thematic agenda of common interest, Argentina and the European Union (EU) resumed the macroeconomic dialogue today. The meeting was held in the Belgrano Hall of the Palace of Finance and the delegations were made up of officials from the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of Argentina.

The Macroeconomic Dialogue aims to strengthen economic ties and promote mutual cooperation between the EU and Argentina.

Both sides welcomed with enthusiasm the opportunity to exchange constructive points of view about the economic situation and its prospects for the future, main economic challenges as well as political priorities for both Argentina and the EU.

In addition, officials expressed concerns about the persistent signs of weakness in the global economic recovery, which do not exclude the occurring of major risks. In that regard, they stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination within the G20.

Given the significant economic challenges that our country faced in recent months, the EU delegation acknowledged the progress made by Argentina in stabilizing the macroeconomic situation and in laying the foundations to the promotion of growth and employment recovery.

On the other hand, Argentine representatives emphasized the economic recovery that is taking place progressively in Europe to overcome the legacy of the economic and financial crisis.

The delegations agreed that the next macroeconomic dialogue will be held in Brussels next year.
