Active participation in the last session of the Mercosur Delegation in the current European Parliament mandate

Brussels, 11th April 2024 - In the final session of the current mandate of the Delegation for Mercosur (DMER) at the European Parliament, chaired by Jordi Cañas, the outcomes of the recent visit by MEPs to Argentina were reviewed. The meeting emphasized the importance of the bilateral relationship and the positive impact of these parliamentary initiatives.

During the session, Atilio Berardi, Head of the Embassy of Argentina to the EU, highlighted the positive influence of the December visit to Argentina and the importance of strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation between the Embassy of Argentina to the EU and the European Parliament.

The EU Ambassador to Argentina, Amador Sánchez, also spoke to comment on the Argentine political scene, noting that the parliamentary visit is an essential bridge for bringing Argentina and the European Union even closer together.

The occasion was opportune to express recognition and gratitude towards Jordi Cañas for his professional and constructive leadership at the helm of the DMER, and towards Vice President Mónica Silvana González, for her ongoing commitment to deepening ties between Argentina and the European Union.

The session served not only to assess past activities but also to lay the groundwork for future collaborations, ensuring that the relationship between Mercosur and the European Union continues to grow for mutual benefit and shared understanding.
