After 20 years, the first shipment of Argentine organic citrus entered the European Union

Buenos Aires, 25th October 2023 - In a historical milestone, the Republic of Argentina successfully gained entry to the European Union (EU) for the first shipment of organic citrus, following a 20-year wait since the beginning of the process, marking a significant achievement for the Argentine citrus production sector.

Argentine citrus, known for its high quality, was exported to the EU with certification from the National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA). This certification ensures that the products meet the quality and food safety standards established by the EU.

The opening of the European market to Argentine citrus was achieved last May, after a rigorous negotiation process and compliance with the requirements set by European authorities. The news has been received with enthusiasm both in Argentina and in Europe, and it represents a significant opportunity to strengthen trade relations and promote the export of high-quality Argentine agricultural products.

This achievement underscores the quality and commitment of Argentine producers in the production of organic citrus. Argentine citrus is widely recognized for its taste and excellence, and the opening of this European market provides a valuable opportunity to expand its reach in the EU.
