Brussels, 29th August 2023 - Ambassador Atilio Berardi led a series of meetings with key representatives of the Argentine agricultural and business sectors, marking the beginning of a public-private mission to Europe.
This strategic initiative is being coordinated by the Argentine Embassy to the European Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries.
The delegation, led by the Undersecretary of Agriculture, Delfo Buchaillot, included leaders from our country's agro-industrial sector. Marta Rebizo from CIARA-CEC, Pedro Vigneau from Maizar, Rodolfo Rossi from Acsoja, Carlos Odriozola from the Argentine Rural Society, and Horacio Oyhanarte and Federico Garat from Bayer Southern Cone were part of the team.
During the meetings, which aimed to foster trade and collaborative ties between Argentina and Europe, various crucial aspects for sustainable development and cooperation between both regions were explored. A comprehensive presentation of Argentina's sustainable agricultural practices, which have been implemented for decades, underscored the country's commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable production.
As part of their itinerary in EU member countries, and with the support of officials from the Argentine Embassy to the EU, representatives of the Argentine agro-industrial sector held meetings with influential actors in both the public and private sectors in Brussels. These interactions included dialogues with the Permanent Representation of Spain to the European Union, which currently holds the Spanish presidency of the European Council, as well as partners from Mercosur. The discussions addressed the various innovative tools available to farmers to achieve efficient and sustainable production, in line with the current challenges facing the sector.
They also had a fruitful meeting with European agricultural representatives, grouped under the COPA-COGECA coalition. During the encounter, Argentine approaches to sustainable production were shared and recognized and valued by their European counterparts.
