Brussels, 12th July 2023 - Ambassador Atilio Berardi meets with Joaquim Nunes de Almeida to strengthen bilateral relations on strategic issues.

 

In an effort to strengthen ties between the Republic of Argentina and the European Union, Ambassador Atilio Berardi met today with Joaquim Nunes de Almeida, Director of Mobility and Energy-Intensive Industries at the DG for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship, and SMEs. The main objective of the meeting was to deepen the bilateral relationship on areas of common strategic interest, including links in mining, raw materials, and European investments in Argentina.

 

During the meeting, Ambassador Berardi and Director Nunes de Almeida discussed cooperation opportunities in the mining sector, considering the recently signed agreement by President Fernández and President Von der Leyen on sustainable value chains for raw materials. Both parties expressed their interest in promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices in this field, as well as exploring possible joint projects that benefit both economies.

 

Furthermore, the topic of critical raw materials was addressed, recognizing their relevance in the current economic context. Ambassador Berardi highlighted Argentina's potential as a reliable supplier of high-quality raw materials and expressed his country's interest in strengthening trade ties with the European Union in this sector. In turn, Director Nunes de Almeida expressed the European Union's interest in diversifying its sources of supply and seeking investment opportunities in Argentina.

 

Regarding European investments in Argentina, Nunes de Almeida emphasized the European Union's interest in promoting investments in strategic sectors of the Argentine economy with great potential, such as renewable energies.
