Brussels, 22nd June 2023 - The Ambassador of the Republic of Argentina to the European Union, Atilio Berardi, held a series of diplomatic meetings with Ambassadors from various Latin American countries in Brussels, aiming to strengthen regional ties and discuss the work agenda with the European Union.
Firstly, Ambassador Berardi was received by the Ambassador of Chile, Gloria Navarrete, with whom he engaged in a dialogue regarding the intensive work agenda of both countries with the European Union. During this meeting, topics of mutual interest were addressed, and opportunities for collaboration to promote economic growth and regional development were explored.
Continuing with his working meetings, Ambassador Berardi visited the Ambassador of Mexico, Rogelio Granguillhome, at the Embassy of Mexico in Belgium and the European Union. During this encounter, discussions focused on bilateral matters of importance, as well as the need to strengthen regional integration - particularly CELAC - to address global challenges and engage with other regional blocs.
Additionally, Ambassador Berardi met with his Peruvian counterpart, Luis Enrique Chávez Basagoitia, at the Embassy of Peru to the European Union. During this meeting, bilateral ties were highlighted, emphasizing the importance of regional integration in the face of current challenges. Both Ambassadors emphasized the upcoming CELAC-UE Summit as an excellent opportunity to advance topics of interest to both regions.
Ambassador Atilio Berardi also paid a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Venezuela to the European Union, Jorge Valero, where they discussed various aspects of the relationship between Latin American countries and the EU.
Furthermore, Ambassador Berardi met with the Ambassador of Colombia, Jorge Rojas, exchanging ideas on strengthening regional integration and promoting common interests.
Another diplomatic meeting took place between Ambassador Atilio Berardi and Ambassador Yaira Jiménez Roig of Cuba, with the aim of strengthening the bi-regional relationship.
Finally, Ambassador Berardi was received by the Ambassador of Guatemala, José Gabriel Lambour Peñalonzo, at the Embassy of Guatemala in Brussels, where they discussed matters related to the relationship between Latin American countries and the EU.
